About Nirmala Bandrapalli

I arrived in this country with nothing but a dream and determination. Leaving behind the familiarity of my homeland, armed with only $100 and a thirst for knowledge, I embarked on a journey to pursue higher education in the United States. It was a leap of faith, leaving behind family and friends, to immerse myself in a new culture and way of life. Building on that resolve, I feel honored to give back to my community.

Burlingame has been my home—a place where I've flourished as a mother, community volunteer, and entrepreneur. For more than 20 years, I've been deeply involved in the city's progress to enhance my community's well-being.

My commitment to education is evident through my service on the School Site Councils of Lincoln Elementary, Burlingame School, and Burlingame High School. In these roles, I've worked tirelessly to make decisions that best served our Burlingame kids, focusing on closing achievement gaps between student groups and reviewing and approving school safety plans.

As an emergency preparedness organizer with the Burlingame Neighborhood Network, I've spearheaded initiatives for over 13 years to ensure our community's readiness for potential disasters. This work has been crucial in building a resilient neighborhood.

My civic engagement extends to serving on the Planning Commission for four years, including one year as chair. During my tenure, I streamlined meeting procedures and ensured effective conduct, improving the commission's efficiency and productivity.

For over 14 years, I've been a president and currently serving as the Leo's Advisor of the Burlingame Lions Club, contributing to local community service projects.

Additionally, I am serving on the Strategic Direction Oversight Committee (SDOC) of the Peninsula Health District for over four years. In this role, I helped guide the PHCD's long-term strategy, ensured accountability, and facilitated community involvement in the district's decision-making processes.

Advocacy for Women's Empowerment

As the President of a Navjivan women's college in Hyderabad, India, I witnessed firsthand the struggles and triumphs of women striving for equality and recognition. I championed their cause, advocating tirelessly for their voices to be heard. Together, we shattered stereotypes and paved the way for women to take up professional roles, breaking free from traditional norms. Yet, even in the land of opportunity, I saw women facing barriers, from fighting for their Reproductive rights to demanding equal pay.

Commitment to Community Service

Throughout my journey, Burlingame became my home—a place where I have flourished as a mother, community volunteer, and entrepreneur. For over two decades, I have been an active participant in the heartbeat of this city. From supporting local schools to spearheading initiatives for emergency preparedness, I have dedicated myself to serving the needs of our community.

Empowering Youth and Seniors

Our youth are the future of Burlingame, and they deserve
every opportunity to thrive. I have been a steadfast advocate for their education and mentorship, co-founding programs like Science Gurus to nurture their talents and prepare them for life's challenges. Equally important, our seniors who are pillars of wisdom and experience need our support in navigating the complexities of modern life, particularly in protecting themselves from scams and phishing schemes in the digital age.

Vision for Burlingame

As your city council candidate, I bring a vision of empowerment and progress.
see a Burlingame where every voice is heard, where opportunities are boundless, and where our community thrives in unity. Together, we will build a future that honors our past, embraces our diversity, and paves the way for generations to come.

I stand before you not just as a candidate, but as a proud member of this vibrant community—a community that has shaped me, inspired me, and given me purpose. With your support, we will write the next chapter of Burlingame's story—one of resilience, compassion, and opportunity. Together, let us forge a brighter tomorrow for Burlingame where every person feels valued, and every dream has a chance to flourish. Together, we will build a future that honors our past, embraces our diversity, and paves the way for generations to come

I respectfully ask you to vote for Nirmala Bandrapalli, so that I may serve you as the Community's Voice. I thank yfor your support, your ideas, and your vote.
